Who we are

Water is the only thing we have ever done

Not plumbing with a water sideline. Not a franchise that also sells air conditioners. Since 1979 this company has treated water for Southeastern homes and nothing else, and that focus is the whole reason the family exists in the shape it does.

Between us we cover the whole spectrum: municipal and well water, whole-home purification, reverse osmosis, commercial systems. Different homes need different answers, so rather than force everyone down one path we built a family where each part does what it is best at.

Otter Soft Water is the residential end of that: hard water in Jacksonville, Tampa Bay and Orlando. One system, one published price, and the same technicians, warehouse and parts inventory behind it as everything else we do.

Not subcontractors hired for the week. We employ and train our own installers and service techs, and several have been here more than fifteen years.

Our own warehouse in Jacksonville, not a drop-ship from a manufacturer you'll never speak to. The Pro Plus also uses a Fleck 5600 valve, so its parts are available on the open market rather than only from us.

How we work

The things we decided up front

This industry has a reputation, and it isn't entirely undeserved. These are the choices that make us a different kind of company to buy from.

We publish the price. The Pro Plus is $2,600 installed and it says so on this website. Our two largest competitors quote only after an in-home visit, which is a choice they make and one we didn't.

The water test really is free, with no obligation. If your water comes back fine, we'll tell you that and leave. If your existing softener just needs salt, we'll say so rather than sell you a new one.

We show our sources. Every hardness figure and cost estimate on this site links to the utility report or study it came from, so you can check our arithmetic.

We don't sell with fear. Hard water is not a health hazard, and we say that plainly on our hard water page. The case for softening is scale, soap, appliances and comfort — and it's strong enough without scaring anyone.

We'll tell you when a softener isn't the answer. If your concern is PFAS or disinfection byproducts, a softener won't touch them. That's a drinking water conversation and we'll point you there instead.
