The short answer: An Otter technician comes to your home, takes a sample from your kitchen sink and runs a set of quick tests, including hardness, chlorine and total dissolved solids. You'll see the results on the spot, get your questions answered and receive one flat installed price in writing. There's no cost and no obligation.
What Happens During the Water Test?
We make it easy for homeowners in Jacksonville, Tampa and Orlando to learn more about their water.
- We come to you. A technician visits your home at a time that works for you.
- We test at your tap. We take a sample from your kitchen sink and run several quick tests, including hardness, chlorine and total dissolved solids.
- We show you the results. We walk through what we found and what it means for your home, in plain language.
- You get a price in writing. If a system makes sense for your home, you'll get one flat installed price in writing before anyone asks you to decide.
How Long Does It Take?
About twenty minutes. The tests themselves are quick. Most of the time is spent going over your results and answering questions.
Do You Test Well Water?
Yes. We test both city water and private well water. Well water can have different characteristics than city water, such as iron or a sulfur smell, so testing is the best way to understand what you're working with.
What Do I Need to Do Before the Test?
Nothing special. We just need access to your kitchen sink. It also helps to know where your main water line enters the house and whether you have an existing water softener or filter.
What if I rent my home?
A water softener connects to your home's main water line, so we'll need the property owner's approval before installing anything. We're still happy to help.
Is There Any Obligation?
No. The test is free, and there's no obligation to buy anything. If you decide a system isn't right for you, that's a perfectly fine outcome. Our goal is to help you understand your water.
Why Test Before You Buy?
Different water problems need different solutions. Knowing what's actually in your water makes it possible to choose treatment based on your home's needs, and to address problems before years of mineral buildup turn into maintenance and replacement costs.
